Installing an Amp and Sub-Woofer in my Honda

I had to install this setup without interfering with the original head unit.

The first thing I had to do was install a 50 Amp fuse block and run some power cable from the battery thru the firewall. (The fuse gets installed last).. The amp was going to be installed in the boot on the back seat as it would not fit under the passenger seat.

For the audio signal to the amp I would use the signal from the rear speaker. I only needed one channel because it is for the sub-woofer. I used a high level input converter to low level RCA to to plug into the amp.

For the trigger wire to turn the amp on with the ignition I used the rear power socket and ran the cable in split tube to the back.

I found a good earth point in the boot then I mounted the amp and hooked up all the wires. I installed the 50 amp fuse and cleaned it up with split tube and gave it a good test.

So that’s how you install an amp and sub-woofer in a modern car.

How to Insulate a Garage

Last summer it got so hot in my garage, my air conditioner would not operate. I decided to install a whirlybird in the roof to let the heat out. My garage was getting to 50 degrees celsius on hot days. I decided to use silver sarking to insulate the walls and roof of the garage. This made a huge difference. I can now operate my air conditioner on days above 40 deg c.
